Between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2026, Google employees demonstrated extraordinary solidarity, mobilizing a grand total of $1,427,448.75 across 6,664 individual donations to the Bridge to Türkiye Fund (BTF).
This cohort analysis highlights the tremendous impact of these contributions, transitioning from a massive rapid-emergency response following the devastating February 2023 earthquakes into sustained, multi-year investments in education, children’s wellbeing, and localized empowerment programs across Türkiye.
Google Employee Giving Trends Over Time
Analysis of donor trends shows a remarkable peak during FY 2022-2023, driven by Google’s company matching and employee-led campaigns in response to the Kahramanmaraş earthquake disaster. In subsequent years, the giving cohort has actively maintained a steady cadence of core program funding. For instance, FY 2025-2026 witnessed a strong rebound in engagement, raising $85,833.60 through 452 donations, marking a significant increase in donor participation and average donation size compared to the previous year.
Pillar 1: Emergency Response & Rehabilitation
The largest share of the Google Giving Circle impact went to direct humanitarian and medical assistance. Out of the total funds raised, $1,066,655.83 was dedicated to Disaster Relief & Recovery Program. Following the devastating February 6, 2023 earthquakes, Google employees immediately mobilized $1,033,501.74 (4,804 donations).
These funds allowed BTF to collaborate with trusted local NGO partners on the ground to provide rapid, life-saving emergency relief (tents, containers, clean water, blankets, warm meals) and support ongoing community rehabilitation projects.
Special Focus: Project CATE (Child Amputees of Türkiye Earthquakes) launched in February 2023 by BTF and Turkish-American doctors, Project CATE provides specialized support to children who lost limbs in the earthquakes. Google employees provided $17,148.29 in targeted funding across the cohort.
Because prosthetic needs change constantly as children grow with each prosthesis costing an average of $7,000, this sustained funding is crucial. Backed by corporate partners like Siemens Healthineers, this program funds prosthetic limbs, personalized physical therapy, and academic scholarships for 131 amputee children at the Child Wellness Center, securing their rehabilitation and well-being into adulthood.
Pillar 2: Investing in the Next Generation
Google employees recognized that recovery is a multi-year journey. Beyond emergency relief, they invested massively in education and community empowerment, contributing a total of $245,154.37 to unlock life-changing academic opportunities. These projects create safe spaces where children can learn and prepare for their futures without financial limits. Detailed Academic & Sustained Program Impacts
This program creates life-changing opportunities for high-achieving, underprivileged students. Working with local NGO partners, including high school and university alumni associations, Googlers’ scholarship funds pave the way for academic and professional success nationwide. Between 2022 and 2026, more than 230 students have benefited from these scholarships, many from the earthquake-affected region, and many have won places at leading universities. Scholarships have helped them continue their education without financial hardship.
Rural village teachers count on BTF to enhance learning. This program equips schools with essential tools, science kits, and library books. Google employees funded classroom supplies, proving that a contribution of just $25 can change a child’s learning environment.
This funding supports the development and restoration of libraries, classrooms, and student dormitories in underserved areas, creating secure, modern spaces where students can learn and prepare for their futures.
Pillar 3: Structural Resilience & Systemic Health
Google employees provided vital structural resilience. These unrestricted contributions allow BTF to direct resources immediately where they are needed most, ensuring operational continuity and the capacity to pivot rapidly during emerging crises.
Supported specialized projects improving the physical and mental health of youth in underserved communities ($2,817.65) and backed community-led local reforestation and green initiatives ($20.00) to safeguard Türkiye’s natural resources.
