“I know you will face many difficulties. I can already foresee them all. Even if you are fortunate enough to find a scholarship, you may still struggle in dorms. After taking a cold shower amidst numerous challenges, you might have to dry off in the reading room, among your peers, feeling shy and shrinking into towels. Every morning, you may have to set out in the dark, finding a spot for yourself and your drawing board on a crowded bus. You might even consider going to a café just to warm up instead of heading to school. In these circumstances, you must never lose sight of your purpose. If you wish to influence others, to be heard, you must demonstrate that you have what it takes. If not, and you end up as an ordinary person, no one will think it’s due to the difficulties you faced or your lack of resources. One day, if you prove yourself, the difficulties you endured will allow you to tackle challenges more realistically than anyone else. But if you ever feel like ‘I’ve endured a lot of hardship; now let my students struggle, my assistants carry bags, and my associates remain stagnant,’ then it would be a disservice to yourself and everyone else. I say ‘if you feel’ because such a dire state can’t even be called a thought…” Mustafa İnan
